E-commerce

Shopify CRM integration: your store’s customers in one place.

GuardenerAI connects to Shopify to bring your store’s customers into the CRM as persons, with their contact details and email marketing consent, so you can segment them and reach them with email, SMS and WhatsApp campaigns.

Part of the E-commerce module, which is off by default and switched on for your workspace on request. An admin connects the store under Settings, E-commerce.

What it does

  • Syncs Shopify customers into Persons: first and last name, email, phone, street address, city, state, postal code, and email marketing consent.
  • Re-syncing updates existing persons instead of creating duplicates, and only fetches customers changed since the last sync.
  • A customer whose email already matches a person is linked to that person rather than copied.
  • Fields the store leaves empty never overwrite what is already in the CRM, and your own custom fields are never touched.
  • Runs in the background when you press sync, so a large store does not hold up the page.
  • Can also bring in abandoned checkouts from new shoppers as leads, so you can follow up with people who are not customers yet. Shoppers already in the CRM are skipped.

How to connect it

  1. Ask us to switch on E-commerce for your workspace.
  2. Open Settings, E-commerce and choose Shopify.
  3. Paste an Admin API access token, or the client ID and secret of a Shopify Dev Dashboard app.
  4. Run the first sync, then build segments from the persons it created.

What it does not do

  • Orders, products and spend are not synced. Keep fields such as lifetime spend up to date with a CSV import if you want to segment on them.
  • The sync is one way, from Shopify into GuardenerAI. Nothing is written back to the store.
  • Syncs run when you start them; there is no schedule.

FAQ

Fair questions.

Will it create duplicate contacts?
No. Each customer is matched on the store’s own customer id, and then by email, before anything new is created.
Does it bring in orders?
No. The sync brings customers and their email marketing consent. Order history stays in your store.
Is email marketing consent respected?
Yes. Whether the customer agreed to email marketing in Shopify is carried into their consent in GuardenerAI.
What happens to abandoned checkouts?
Abandoned checkouts from shoppers not yet in your CRM can be synced as leads. Checkouts that were recovered, or from existing customers, are skipped.
