Email delivery

Send email campaigns through any SMTP server.

GuardenerAI connects to SMTP to deliver your email campaigns and journey messages through your own SMTP account, while consent, unsubscribes and suppressions are handled in GuardenerAI before anything is handed over.

Part of the Marketing module, which is switched on by default for new workspaces. An admin adds the sender under Marketing, Channels.

What it does

  • Sends email campaigns and journey emails through your SMTP account, from the from-address and name you set.
  • Every send passes GuardenerAI’s checks first: consent for the channel and topic, the suppression list, and your frequency policy and daily cap.
  • Adds unsubscribe headers to marketing email, and the message carries an unsubscribe link to a public page.
  • Works with any SMTP server that supports encryption, including a shared mailbox you already connected: copy it across as a marketing sender.

How to connect it

  1. Open Marketing, Channels, choose Add sender for email, and pick SMTP, or use Copy from shared mailbox.
  2. Enter the host, port, encryption (STARTTLS or SSL), username, password and from-address.
  3. Test the sender, then choose it in a campaign or journey.

What it does not do

  • GuardenerAI does not create or manage your SMTP account, domain or sending reputation; you set those up with SMTP.
  • This connection is for marketing email. One-to-one email from a record goes through a connected mailbox instead.
  • SMTP has no feedback channel, so bounces and complaints are not reported back. For automatic bounce handling, use a delivery provider.
  • Encryption is required.

FAQ

Fair questions.

Why send marketing email through SMTP instead of my mailbox?
Bulk email from a personal mailbox is limited by your mail provider and can hurt the reputation of the address you use every day. A delivery provider such as SMTP is built for volume, and GuardenerAI still applies consent and suppressions before each send.
Can I use more than one email provider?
Each marketing sender names one provider. You choose the sender a campaign or journey sends through, so different senders can use different providers.
Will bounces be handled with SMTP?
No. Plain SMTP gives no delivery feedback. If automatic bounce and complaint handling matters, connect SendGrid, Amazon SES, Mailgun or Postmark.
